Experience
I attended The College of William and Mary where I double-majored in music and history. Upon graduation, I moved on to Rutgers University in New Jersey. It is there that I decided to combine majors and work on an MA/Ph.D. program in musicology. Currently, I am a teacher's assistant at Rutgers for an intro to music course. I have the ability to tutor many subjects. However, I have an expertise in music, writing, and history. I enjoy assisting others and teaching them in these subject areas. As for my teaching style, I truly believe that motivating my students is the best way to get them to be successful in the area they're studying. Giving a student the desire and aspiration to learn can work wonders. For example, teaching a subject in an unconventional way can be a motivator on its own. I also prefer my students to actually understand the information they are learning instead of simply memorizing the material. When information is thoroughly understood, chances are that it will become instilled in the student's brain. When I am not teaching, I enjoy reading. I am a big fan of historical fiction. When time permits, I also enjoy playing video games.
